There are a lot of bands that call themselves Emo, but our goal is to list the ones that are true to the Emo cause. Just because some of these bands have gone Platinum, doesn’t mean they are too commercial to be Emo. We will be reviewing each band and adding more bands on a regular basis.

Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World are one of the reasons Emo has become more mainstream. They are an alternative rock band from Arizona who got their start in 1993 and have come a long way since. They have released 6 albums in 17 years. They became truly commercial in 2001 with a number of singles from their album ‘Bleed American’. This album went platinum and their next one, Futures, went gold. In 2007 their highest charting album, Chase This Light went as high as number 5 on the Billboard 200.

The band members are: Lead Vocals/Rhythem Guitar: Jim Adkins, Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals: Tom Linton, Bass/Backing Vocals: Rick Burch, Drums/Percussion: Zach Lind

Young Guns

Young Guns are a unique band and definitely don’t produce your run of the mill commercial music. They derive their influence from bands such as Skid Row and Comeback Kid. They provide a great blend of old school and modern music.

Dashboard Confessional

Dashboard Confessional are another one of the more commercial Emo bands. The singer and songwriter Chris Carrabba started out on his own, but ultimately formed the band. Dashboard Confessional have rocked the charts since and become one of the most successful Emo bands to date.
